El Arte Barroco is the work of Richard Jacques, an art historian with a special interest in the painting and sculpture of sixteenth and seventeenth century Spain and the Hispanic World. Richard’s current research focuses on the portrayal of suffering in the works of Francisco de Zurbarán (1598-1664). He also has academic interests in the arts of Italy and in European print culture.
Richard posts regularly for his sixteen thousand followers on social media with the aim of shedding new light on Iberian early modern art. Attracting more than 3 million Instagram views per year, the hope is to bring these remarkable artworks to the attention of an ever wider audience.
